Comment / FedEx 2 was running late yesterday, with the arrival of N604FE coinciding nicely with sunset. N604FE is an 'original' FedEx MD-11F, delivered to the carrier some 15 years ago on May 22nd 1992.

Comment / Turkish seem to have upgraded their daily Istanbul to Stansted service from a Boeing 737-800 to an Airbus A321 for the summer. Hopefully that's a sign that the route is performing well. TC-JRA Kütahya is seen here lining up on runway 05 for departure back to Turkey just as the sun went in...

London Stansted Airport (STN)
Comment / After three days on the deck at Stansted and a few appearances by John Travolta on British TV, Boeing 707 N707JT departs to Basle. Despite drawing a crowd of photographers, a light load and a strong headwind meant that she rotated very early, leaving us with just an average belly view!

Comment / The true highlight of the day and my first glimpse of John Travolta's Boeing 707-138B, N707JT. Named Jett Clipper Ella, she is not only an executive transport for John Travolta, but a flying ambassador for Qantas, too. For she was first delivered to Qantas as VH-EBM on 10th September 1964.

Comment / Making a very welcome visit from Rome today was one of the two new Israir Airbus A320s, YL-LCB, leased from LAT Charter. Israir are regulars at Stansted, but normally only in the hours of darkness. So to bag an A320 (and the only one painted up in the Israir colours at that) in daylight wasn't bad at all!

Comment / Pegasus is new airline for the schedules at Stansted this summer, flying in from Ercan and Istanbul three times a week with their Boeing 737-800s.

Comment / A welcome BBJ visitor to Stansted just before sunset yesterday. Although it wears an American registration, sources elsewhere on the web indicate a Saudi Arabian operator.
